Joel Maloney is the Founder and Managing Director of The Defectors. Informed by over ten years of experience in the marketing and advertising industry, Joel maintains a body of work that refuses to settle for mediocrity, that shines with innovation and most importantly aspires to inspire. Tired of seeing too many marketers treat their audience with contempt, Joel wanted to change the way brands interact with consumers and lead his clients to the Holy Grail of Authenticity.

It is a truism that to work within your passion means that you never really work at all, and Joel feels he is testament to this truth and especially when Jenine Wong is there to do some of the work.

Every Batman needs a Robin, but in the case of Jenine Wong she is more like the Pepper Potts to Joel’s Tony Stark by keeping the Defectors in sync and on-deadline while Joel fly’s around town seeing clients.

Jenine has the smarts and strategic business acumen to take The Defectors from boutique marketing agency, to mystical legendary status that only gods may speak of. Jenine keeps The Defectors machine humming with brilliance by ruling with an iron fist, and Medusa-esque smile. Her catalogue of strategic marketing plans is nothing short of genius, and Joel often comes in early to work to secretly add his name to some of them.

Lover of all things colourful and creative, our senior graphic designer, Monica, provides an endless stream of intelligent, highly creative and user-friendly website design, iconic brands and engaging Facebook and social media competitions.

Most people could not make a bowl of nachos faster than Monica can create beautiful sites that appeal to the digital senses. Seriously, she is a machine, it is scary. Hailing from Monterrey, Mexico, she has brought her love of life and art to The Defectors; she has also taught us more Spanish than what we knew from Speedy Gonzalez cartoons.

Pete is our SEO Manager and has been lured away from the lucrative online trading scene to join The Defectors in helping their clients rise up the search engine ranks.

Although his roots are in trading stocks over the past few years he has dedicated his analytical skills to the SEO marketing world. He is highly organised, innovative and understands our clients business models and their objectives, which is the key ingredient of any  SEO campaign.

Pete knows many useless acronyms including (but not limited to) SEO, PPC, SEM and SERPS so you don’t have to!

Annabelle is The Defectors resident socialite, and is responsible for disseminating our clients social media propaganda to the world.

Belle rocks Facebook like the drummer from Def Leppard who’s only got one arm, people just can’t believe how she does it! Belle’s desire to continually innovate in the social media space is just what we look for in a social media manager, and we are very thankful to have found her using the power of Grayskull.

If you want to outsource your social media management to a real expert at the top of their game you won’t find better than Belle.

Hailing from Belgium Dries is The Defectors first European import. From what we can work out he is part human, part android, part Stig and smells like waffles and chocolate but he codes like a man with 12 fingers and is all about high quality clean code.

Alex Jeffs is our SEO mid-fielder. He is always setting a tough pace to ensure our clients websites are ranking as fast as possible and all without getting a red card. He plays by Googles ever changing rules so no need to worry about Black Hat tactics here. Alex is a highly organised, dedicated to his clients and passionate about SEO, and these are all the hallmarks The Defectors look for when developing an SEO superstar.

Born underground in the city of Prague in the late 1800′s and raised by a de-throned King from a defunct royal blood-line, Miguel Chernovski now called Michael Cerny was a promising physicist studying the laws of attraction. Not happy with the technology of his time he chose to freeze himself until the year 2005 where he could better serve the world by helping websites attract visitors using the age old dark art of SEO. His genius is only superseded by his tales of the olden days at lunch. Classic stuff, literally.

The Devil Wears Prada and she hangs out with Magdalena. Our latest social media manager “Mags” has a take no prisoner approach to her work. If you get in the way of her completing a task you better have a damn good reason or you will most likely be reduced to a snivelling mess, and then she will go to work on you. Clients love her which is great, but The Defectors generally flee like the Japanese in a Godzilla movie when she arrives each morning.

The youngest member of The Defectors team, Charlie is responsible for boosting team morale, depleting stress levels and ensuring fun is present in the office everyday. He loves chewing everything and anything he can get his goofy paws on because his mum Jenine neglected to train him properly. Charlie has a passion for office gardening, and is often seen pruning the Peace Lilies to keep them looking gorgeous all year round.

Although Dobe is only 4 years of age he has quickly made his mark within The Defectors team. At a slight disadvantage by having no previous computer skills or English as a first language, Dobe accepted the challenge to learn every day, spread The Defectors philosophy, and to grow at least 40cm off the ground. He loves to be social, he always lets us know when guests have arrived, and is the first to greet them with a salivating smile and wagging tail. His brother is a cat called Pinky, who he loves to sleep on and occasionally wrestle with, until he gets his ass kicked.
