ING Direct - Goes Social with Facebook & Twitter Operating in a challenging market, high in job vacancies but low in skilled candidates, the recruitment team from ING Direct were looking for a new way to connect with talent on social media. They wanted to reduce their dependence on traditional recruitment methods of utilising job boards, careers expos, recruitment agencies and staff referrals. They wanted to defect! Our strategy was to tap into the vast pools of talent already on Facebook and Twitter by creating a Careers@ING Direct presence on these new channels. Our approach integrated this new social venture with ING Direct's offline activities. We custom designed and built an interactive and entirely content managed system for them on Facebook. We also set up and custom designed a Twitter account for the brand to manage conversations with talent on Twitter. To help ING Direct succeed in its social endeavours we have developed a series of educational guides and training sessions for internal staff to show them the best practices to use each channel effectively. By opening the company up to engage in a genuine dialogue with potential candidates, ING Direct is able to promote their real, human side and position themselves as a company that is savvy, bold and different, and on the cutting edge of all things social.
