World Masters Games 2009 - Online Promotion As the world's biggest multi-sport event in the world, the World Masters Games needed a BIG competition to drive competitor registrations and increase awareness of the Games in Sydney. We thought what better way to deliver on the mission of the Games of giving "ordinary people extraordinary experiences" than giving people the opportunity to create their own faux "World Masters Games Magazine." We designed and built an online interactive platform that enabled competition entrants to upload their image to the cover of the magazine, customise the magazine headline and cover colours. They could then view, edit and print off their cover. To make the competition go truly "viral" we integrated "send to a friend" functionality to the competition, where the cover could be sent via email to family and friends. This big competition drove big results with thousands upon thousands of entries, thousands of emails forwarded and registration targets exceeded for most events.
